WebBioinformatics Students will engage in the applications of computer-based tools and database searching to better understand the fields of genetics, genomics, evolutionary biology, and personalized medicine. Students will be introduced to scripting programming languages for analyzing biological data sets. WebThe Bioinformatics Program includes Loyola faculty from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Mathematics and Statistics. While these faculty have a vast area of research interests, all require interdisciplinary approaches. The Bioinformatics Program at Loyola is part of the College of Arts and Sciences.

WebCatherine earned her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Houston where she also earned an MS in Biology. She joined Loyola's faculty in 2007. Genevieve joined the Putonti lab in Summer 2024. She completed her BS in Bioinformatics in May 2024 and MS in Bioinformatics in 2024. Genevieve's research is all things Pseudomonas.
